We are delayed-due-to-weather day two in McMurdo; also known as, "we're sure getting used to a free paycheck."
I called into work today to see if I could help out, but there is little to be done; just sit and wait for the flight to take off.
Ironically, I woke up this morning and saw this beautiful pattern in the snow. You'll notice the pronounced shadow across the middle of the picture, indicating a good deal of sunshine hanging low in the sky. Apparently, we are in for quite a storm by noon today, preventing a plane from landing safely. Most people look out the window confused about the fair weather and the absence of an aircraft.
So, today, I took a nap already after meeting friends at breakfast, I had coffee at 10 o'clock break with other stranded non-working passengers, am working on washing my one pair of clothes while lounging in my sweats. I'm trying to find way-faring laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner and such since my liquids are checked in my bags that I won't get back for at least another day if we continue to be stuck. I'll likely crochet a bit, and perhaps I'll finish my book that Jen gave me for Christmas.
I also confirmed my travel details. You can look up the airport codes if you're interested, or follow my blog for a few more weeks while I sporadically tell the tale of my journey:

I had been wondering if your bags had to stay checked the whole time and what you were wearing! :)
